Who is Downtown Dog SF?
Downtown Dog is an owner operated professional dog walking service.
What does owner operated mean? It simply means that I, the owner, will be walking your dog(s). Unlike larger companies where dogs are shuffled between different walkers. This offers certain benefits: you will be able to directly contact the person walking your dog and the same person will walk your dog every day. Consistency is necessary for the dog to trust the walker, which is an absolute must in an off leash environment.

Downtown Dog is the only dog walking service in San Francisco that puts individual GPS trackers on each dog.
Downtown Dog is certified in pet CPR and First Aid, bonded and insured through Pet Sitters Associates, LLC, and licensed with the city of San Francisco.
Bio
Hi I am Charlie Nieman the owner and sole walker of Downtown Dog. I was born and raised in Taos, New Mexico and moved to the Bay Area in 2001. Growing up in rural New Mexico as an only child with a single mother and two dogs, I spent a lot of time with my dogs. During my early childhood I spent more time with dogs than other kids since I lived in the outskirts of town. After spending so much time with dogs, they have become my nature and my comfort zone.
About 10 years ago I found myself in between careers and came across an ad for dog walking with a local company. After sometime working for this company, it was clear that I had a special knack for managing large packs of dogs. It’s something you are either naturally good at or not. You definitely get better with experience, but experience doesn't necessarily mean your are good at it. A big part of it really comes down to the energy you exude; calm and confident. Not only do I have lifetime of experience with dogs; observing them, interacting with them, and training them. I am also constantly educating myself about anything dog related.
